Spirits

Spirits are entities created by Shtur-Pthanun through the Creative Mind. They are creatures with diverse appearances and unique powers. A Spirit's genesis includes a phase during which it is known simply as "Entity". An Entity has no identity or consciousness and can only travel between dimensions (including the Abyss). The formation of an ego follows a process that lasts centuries or even millennia. The phases are:

  1. Giving oneself a name πŸ Š The name of a Spirit—that is, the True Name—is extremely important and is the first step in developing one's own identity.
  2. Creating a body πŸ Š That is, a True Body. More than a voluntary process, it occurs as a logical consequence of the environment the Entity frequents and the actions it performs. Once the body is created, the Entity loses the ability to enter the Abyss.
  3. Creating a mask πŸ Š Once the Spirit has a True Name and a True Body, it creates a false name and body for itself. This is not for recreational purposes but for self-defense. As long as their True Name and True Body are hidden, they can remain immortal.

When a Spirit is killed, and its true identity remains hidden, it returns to the Creative Mind for a variable period of time to regenerate. After leaving the dimension, Spirits can travel anywhere except the Material World and the Abyss. However, it is possible for a Spirit to take possession of the body of a being from the Material World and use it freely. Another method is to make a contract with a Summoner.

Spirits recognize Shtur-Pthanun as their mother, or in some cases, as a kind of ancestor. However, this doesn't mean they all side with her. Since Shtur-Pthanun would never dare harm her children, they're free to confront her and aid her enemies; however, this doesn't mean she won't use other means to punish them.Spirits are divided into various categories:

  • Bonded Spirits πŸ Š They are summoned by a Summoner and become bound to them. This is, in fact, a contract that has benefits for both parties. The Summoner gains a powerful weapon at their service, which they can call upon at any time for assistance; the Spirit not only secures a supply of extra prana (obtained from the Summoner), but also the ability to enter the Material World. A telepathic connection is also created between the Summoner and the Spirit, allowing them to know each other's whereabouts. However, it is possible for a Spirit to temporarily sever that connection, becoming "invisible" to its Summoner. An important aspect of such contracts, however, is that they cannot be broken unless both parties agree. But, if the Summoner dies, the contract is immediately voided.
  • Unbound Spirits πŸ Š Also known as Rogue Spirits. They don't serve anyone and are totally free. Some people think these are the most dangerous because there's nothing to stop them from lying, betraying, or killing. They follow no rules except those they make themselves.
  • Archspirits πŸ ŠAlso known as Divine Spirits or High Spirits. These are directly in the service of Shtur-Pthanun and therefore obtain from her great powers, but equally great responsibilities. Their main goal is to find candidates who can become Champions of the goddess. Archspirits cannot be bound to a Summoner.
  • Demi-Spirits πŸ Š When a Champion of Shtur-Pthanun serves the goddess with great faithfulness, they can be reincarnated as a Spirit. Demi-Spirits cannot be bound to a Summoner and can freely access the Material World. They are virtually immortal and possess a nearly infinite supply of prana.

Another way to classify Spirits is by their birth.

  • First Generation Spirits or Primum Logos πŸ Š They are the most powerful and the oldest.
  • Second Generation Spirits or Axis Animae πŸ Š They are very powerful. A hundred thousand years separate them from the previous ones.
  • Third Generation Spirits or Sub Divo πŸ Š They are mediocre in terms of ability, but can be dangerous. They came approximately three hundred thousand years after the previous ones.
  • Fourth Generation Spirits or Inter Alios πŸ Š The weakest and also the youngest. They appeared a full five hundred thousand years after the previous ones, and therefore almost a million years separates them from the First Generation Spirits.
