Three Aeons Rule

Also known as the Authorless Decree. This rule establishes that three aeons must pass between the triumph of Order and the return of the Abyss. The cycle of the Universe is marked by the following phases:

  • Order defeats Chaos
  • Abyss destroys Order
  • Chaos conquers Abyss

This rule was not written by the deities, but was deduced from their experience of cyclicality. How this rule is interpreted depends largely on the culture. On Saleus, the priests believed this rule was a way to legitimize an unjust war and theorized the possibility of a definitive triumph for the Order, capable of definitively ending the cycle. On the planet Etyamas, largely dominated by the followers of Shtur-Pthanun, the cycle was thought of as an inevitability of life and therefore it was said that the end of times had to be accepted and considered part of a new beginning. On Taisha speaking of this rule was considered a very serious crime since, according to the imperial authorities, accepting and spreading it was like implicitly wishing for the end of the Empire itself. On Veleda, however, this rule was considered the sacred foundation of the cosmos and was also called the Dictate of the Stars.

However, the destructive invasion of Nerofoggia, which occurred only one eon later the triumph of Order, demonstrated that this rule could be violated. The priests of Saleus, warned in advance by Dogma, declared the Authorless Decree and the cult of Etyamas to be false. Many Spirits, like the devotees of Shtur-Pthanun, ignored this violation, while others spoke of an "anomaly" and the need to intervene to change the order of the cosmos.
